Memory Cloth — Valentine-Diamond
The morning after she died I woke up thinking instead of burning away the cinder/coal (hurt & anger) holding it tightly would turn it into a diamond.
It was the process Dawna Markova taught. When you face an obstacle, turning it into a challenge can help you realize how it was a gift.
The last time I saw Mom she said, “All I’ve taught you was anger.”
It was that anger that allowed me to refuse her suburban housewife role
and find my own kind of life. A gift.
