Memory Cloth — Hidden Photo

When I was eleven, Mom had a tiny set of drawers covered with pink flowered wall paper.  I thought it would be perfect for my dolls.

Inside I found this small black and white photo, the old square kind with a jiggly cut edge.  In the open doorway - nearly to the ceiling - was a pile of naked bodies.

I knew about the Nazis in World War II and that Dad had been to France and Germany.  He never spoke about his experiences until the 1980’s when he was interviewed by a veteran’s magazine.  He had been in reconnaissance and was one of the first to get to a concentration camp at the end of the war. The photos were sent to General Patton to show what they found.
