Barbara Banks; ceramic sculptures dipict the sunflower in all its glory. Working in both clay and porcelain, Barbara describes her work as an extension of creative knowledge she derived through a dream.
An accomplished oil painter, Barbara vividly remembers a significant dream in 1990 which launched her work in clay. Long known as an artist who follows her tremendous inner energy, Barbara explained, "I dreamt I was working with my hands, using organic materials to create sculpture. Kneading and pulling the clay gave me such a tremendous feeling of well-being and harmony. I was inspired to create!"
Over the last eight years, a variety of techniques and materials is used to forge unique and expressive styles in each piece. Barbara buries her sunflowers all over the world, as directed by her dream.
