Hi everyone,
It was wonderful to just read editor Cheryl Klein's email about the creating of the book.
To add to that, I thought it would be useful if everyone could listen to Mr. Gansworth introduce the backstory for the book, and read an excerpt. Much of what Cheryl described is in this brief audio, but it is deferent coming right from the author.
Click on the link below, and then select the first link down -- the "Meet-the-Author Book Reading with Eric Gansworth". This is the original TeachingBooks.net recording we made with him after the book was published.

I personally love hearing about how ideas for this distilled. I also love what he says about music, and his photo makes me smile (him in John Lennon-like glasses).
My very best,
Nick
PS: If you've read the book and would like to fill out the "qualitative measurement" rubric on the right side of the page (under "Text Complexity"), that would be awesome. Results get crowd sourced so that future readers can have an understanding of how educated readers consider the complexity of the book.
