If I Ever Get Out of Here

One of the things I have been enjoying about the book is how relatable it is, starting with Lewis getting his braid cut off and talking about how the first time it happened was when he got gum in his hair when he was younger. Wanting and trying to fit in is such a huge part of adolescence, and music as Ed just mentioned, is such a common way to establish your group of friends.

I'm wondering if the choice of Paul McCartney and Wings is related specifically to the song K.T. cites, "Venus and Mars," as well as the fact more generally that Paul left the Beatles and eventually formed a new band.
(There is also the rumor about Paul being dead). Lewis inhabits two worlds, two planets, but doesn't quite fit into either one of them. He's a smart kid on the reservation, which sets him apart from the other Tuscarora kids in his orbit, and he's a reservation kid at a white school, which also leaves him wanting.

I'm reading on to find out if Lewis does "get out of here," and what exactly that means. (Because I also grew up in Niagara County and left the area, I'm really curious!)
