Any difference is most likely pennies either way. If the author does receive a different amount for hardcover, paperback, and/or electronic, it is specified in their contract.  The real difference comes with the Indies, the Independent bookstores and/or Independent authors. For the difference in purchasing an eBook vs a physical book can be large. Â

Clarification about my post saying I'd downloaded an electronic version of Tim Tingle's book. I did so because I had run out of time to join the discussion and couldn't find it locally
On royalties - to answer Paula's question - It does in some cases but maybe not always. At larger publishers I've learned the author royalties are not always favorable compared to book orders. .Â
But - I did, in saying I bought the electronic version, step on the toes of several brilliant indie bookstore owners inadvertently. So i should say that I bought the electronic version for expediency but backed it up with an order for a hardcover from a local bookstore.

I never thought of that. Does the author receive more for an electronic sale than for the paper edition? I haven't been buying many electronic books, but I'll start doing so if it will make a difference to the authors. Thanks for mentioning it, Christine!

Bravo. I bought a Kindle version (for timing and in the hopes the royalties will be a bit higher for Mr. Tingle)Â
