Since this is the week-end…and there is a break between discussions, and for fun…for those who are interested in bookmaking…publishing jargon…..
Hardcover Books
For most hardcover books, the image/illustration is printed on the "jacket" which wraps around the book, and can be removed. Usually, information about the content of the book, the…"flap copy" is on the "front flap," and on the "back flap" is information about writer/illustrator. The jacket wraps around the "cover," often a plain colored paper or piece of cloth.
Paperbacks
Most paperbacks do not have a jacket, the image/illustration is printed on the "cover," usually the front cover, and on the back cover, is…the cover copy….information about the content of the book, the author/illustrator , reviews, etc…it varies…depending on the book, the author…
Enjoy…Norma Jean
