I saw Debbie's comment as a statement that this book is one that helps to balance out the perspectives that have been shared in children's lit in the past. I find it helpful to see the pioneer days from another viewpoint besides the one I grew up seeing and Wilder is admittedly one of those.
I am glad that Tim Tingle continues to share such stories for our children and for us. I knew about the forced relocation, but I have to say my perceptions were challenged when I read the description of their home with its porch, chickens and garden. I am thankful for that shake up.
