Wow. I have just read through all the messages that were posted over the weekend, and you all have given us a lot of food for thought. I do want to come back and address some of the specific points (and I encourage you all to keep the discussion going), but it is also my pleasure to launch a new topic this morning as we begin a discussion of some specific books. I will start a new thread for that, but just wanted to acknowledge the ongoing discussion before I do.
Welcome to new members. Some of you have identified yourself as you have come forward in the discussion. Thanks for joining in to offer your experiences and perspectives. I also want to acknowledge the many, many participants out there who aren't posting but who are actively reading and thinking about what is being said. Those of us who care about books
(and isn't that all of us on this list?) know that reading is never a passive act.
And a reminder: if you have missed the first two weeks of discussion, you can find it in the Archives at:
http://ccbc.education.wisc.edu/ccbc-net
and enter the following:
username: ccbc-net password: Look4Posts
Everyone has the same user name and password, which are both appended to the bottom of every message on CCBC-Net.
