In the midst of these wonderful discussions about diversity in literature, I want to quickly tell everyone about the Bridge to Understanding Award which is given by the United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY).
Do you know someone who has created a program that uses children's books to explore and promote international understanding and cultural awareness? If so then you could nominate them for the Bridge to Understanding Award which hands out not only a certificate (for being awesome) but also a cash prize of $1000.00.
Here is the link <http://www.usbby.org/list_b2u.html> to USBBY's page about the award and criteria.
Deadline for submissions is March 1, 2014.
Please do try and nominate someone!
