As an author of color married to an author of color, I was going to toss in my two sense, and then realized that most of what I was going to say I'd said in a blog interview at Cynsations a couple years back (Scroll about halfway down to the two questions beginning with "There's been some discussion in the kidlitosphere of the need for more books that feature protagonists and main characters of color, especially in areas like speculative fiction where they're particularly underrepresented. How is that kind of diversity reflected in your story, and what is your thinking---as a reader and a writer---on this topic?"):
