I sent this yesterday but it apparently bounced. Pasting it below:
Its fair to say I'm doing a happy dance here in my living room (my cats watch and they don't seem amused) to see that CCBC-NET will be discussing IF I EVER GET OUT OF HERE and HOW I BECAME A GHOST!
During the Super Bowl, I joined in the "Not Your Mascot" twitter storm (I didn't watch the game) to call attention to Native efforts to get the Washington NFL team to quit using that racist mascot it uses.
People were posting photos of family/friends and the like making the point that we are here today, and that mascots do not honor who we are. My tweets were "honor us by reading books by Native authors" and then I'd put an author name and a link to his/her book at BIRCHBARK BOOKS.
A lot of people on CCBC-NET know about that wonderful bookstore. They don't yet have Tim's book, but they do have Eric's. If you haven't bought it yet... support Independent Bookstores and get it from Birchbark Books. http://birchbarkbooks.com/CatalogueRetrieve.aspx?ProductID=5631728&A=SearchResult&SearchID=7603628&ObjectID=5631728&ObjectType=27
