I didn't misunderstand. I am not talking about the recent Notable but the one held in Boston in 2010. I've been very vocal about it ever since as have several librarians who were sitting with me. I would certainly hope that lead to more scrutiny on the panel's makeup.
Having said that, I'm thrilled there has been better representation on that committee and that there is now sensitivity. Hopefully we well see the same applied to all committees across the board and less off-the-record whispering about how authors of color have "their own awards."
