Re: "Marginal" Awards

Some of the ethnic awards are marginalized by ALA at Midwinter when the awards are announced. I understand that there are rules about who gets to make announcements on that grand stage, and I know people are working on that... Course, I'm thinking about the American Indian Library Association's awards, but our award is not the only one that doesn't get any attention that day.

I get why we can't be on the big stage, but what I do NOT get is the email and website announcements where the list of books who win awards are recognized. I wish ALA could include us on the website. In that way, we are absolutely marginalized.
