Children's Book Guild members are rotating as Guest Editors of the Guild Facebook page -- *Fred Bowen *is currently posting questions, ideas and thought-provoking comments, generating discussion and sharing the backstory of some of his books.

Fred, a sports columnist for KidsPost (/Washington Post/), is the author of 14 sports books for kids 8 and up. Fred's */No Easy Way: The Story of Ted Williams and the Last 400 Season/*/ /(Dutton) has been named to the list of Top Ten Sports books for kids by /Booklist . /Today Fred is seeking ideas on how libraries can attract more boys.

I invite CCBC members to join the conversation with Fred Bowen at www.facebook.com/bookguilddc . "Like" the page and watch for a new Guild author, illustrator or librarian each month.

The Guild also invites CCBC list members in the Washington DC area to attend the *Anne S. MacLeod Children's Literature Lecture and Reception, Friday, October 8*. The event is behind held on the College Park campus of the University of Maryland, at the Marriott Inn and Conference Center, from 7:15 - 9:30pm. This year's presentation is by Anne MacLeod herself, speaking on "The Impact of Modern Art on Picture Books." As Americans embraced modernism in art, new printing technologies made it possible to reproduce highly designed children's books for a mass market. The event should be a perfect way to end the week.
