I think non?ntasy-reader librarians have a tendency to lump all fantasy together. Most children's librarians have read Harry Potter *and* HDM even if they don't normally read fantasy... and so, because the series both came out around the same time, we are making the assumption that most people will like both series just because we did. (It may be a true assumption -- even though the series are different! Isn't that interesting?)
