Announcement: Peter Sis ITV continuing education class

The Cooperative Children's Book Center (CCBC) of the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in conjunction with the Office of Education Outreach of the School of Education, is offering a unique opportunity for Wisconsin librarians and teachers to explore the works of author/artist Peter Sis.
"Widening Worlds: The Picture Books of Peter Sis" is a one?y interactive video course that will take place at eight sites throughout the state on Wednesday, July 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss selected picture books by Peter Sis with their colleagues face to face in facilitated small groups, and then talk with the author/artist himself via two-way interactive video. They will also watch two short films Sis has made about his books, "Tibet" and "Starry Messenger." The day will conclude with a presentation by Joan Thron, assistant professor of Curriculum and Instruction at UW-Green Bay. Dr. Thron will talk about using Sis's books in the classroom to enhance students' visual literacy.

Green Bay (Green Bay Southwest High School) LaCrosse (Western Wisconsin Technical College) Madison (Pyle Center) Menomonie (UW Stout Millennium Hall) Milwaukee (Milwaukee Public Schools Tech Center) Minocqua (Lakeland Union High School) Spring Green (River Valley High School) Wausau (North Central Technical College)
The registration fee is $45. Registration Deadline is July 13, but participation at each site is limited, so register early! DPI Continuing Education Credits have been applied for.
