Picture Book Magic: A Celebration of Children's Illustrated Literature" will be held Saturday, October 13, 2001, at the National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature (NCCIL) in Abilene, Texas. Leonard S. Marcus, Betty Carter and Robert Sabuda will speak at the one?y conference. Original art by Ed Young will be on display in the NCCIL's gallery during the conference. The cost of the conference is
$40. A special NCCIL membership combined with the conference fee is available for a limited time at $70 (basic NCCIL membership is $50). (The NCCIL is a non-profit organization that organizes exhibits of original art from children's picture books, designs educational programming for the exhibits, and tours the exhibits nationally.)
