I will miss you so much, but definitely plan to follow the blog. I love that you have kept me in touch with UW-Madison Library program, where I earned my MLS in the 70's, and that you have maintained such important, intelligent and fascinating discussions of children's literature through the years.

Thank you, and best wishes in the new year,

Marian Sawyer

Dear CCBC-Net Community,
When CCBC-Net began in the spring of 1995, we wanted to offer a new way to engage in discussion of books for children and teens. Our first topical discussion was held in July of that year. We’ve been exploring individual books, topics and issues in the world of literature for children and teens on a monthly basis ever since.

Across CCBC-Net's twenty year history, there have been thousands of posts as you, members of the CCBC-Net community, have shared your insights, observations, perspectives, experiences, and enthusiasm around books for youth. At the time we launched CCBC-Net, listservs were on the cutting edge, and ours allowed for a vibrant, lively discussion of subjects near and dear to our hearts and our professions. We have had over 2,000 subscribers from all over the world and from many walks of life, and the listserv has seen some great discussions.

Today, while listservs still have a place, they have been joined by blogs, Twitter feeds, Pinterest posts, and other forms of social media that offer different ways to connect and engage. Listservs are no longer the go-to form of social media for discussion and, as a result, we have observed a sharp decline in activity on CCBC-Net over the past few years. Our attempt to revitalize CCBC-Net in 2014 with changes that included individual book discussions and Q&A with authors and illustrators – while illuminating -- did little to increase participation.

For this reason, after much consideration and discussion, we have decided to bring the CCBC-Net listserv to a close at the end of this year.

We’ll still be talking about books for children and teens, publishing trends, and essential issues in the world of children's and young adult literature both here at the CCBC and online, via the CCBC’s blog, CCBlogC: http://ccblogc.blogspot.com/ Look for more author and illustrator interviews, too. That’s one thing we look forward to carrying forward in this new forum. As with CCBC-Net, we always welcome your suggestions of topics for discussion. The CCBC archives will still be here, too, so when you want to call upon that great discussion in February of 2014 on multicultural literature, for example, or our discussions of edgy young adult literature in 2003 and again in 2005, or nonlinear narratives back in October 1998, you still can. You can scroll down through a complete list of the topics at: http://ccbc.education.wisc.edu/ccbcnet/archives.asp. Click on the link on the page to access specific discussion. Login: ccbc-net. Password: Look4Posts Thank you for being part of the CCBC-Net community. We hope you’ll continue to read, reflect, and share your thoughts on the CCBC blog and in other ways, too. Sincerely,

KT Horning, CCBC Director
