Probably everyone's first impression of Little Roja Riding Hood relates to the cover art where el lobo is featured, not little "Ro," as you call her. Can you tell us about that decision?
Your abundant affection for little "Ro" and her abuela is so clear. There's much to observe, such as the visual portrayal of an active abuela who is only mildly ill, not infirm. She's also contemporary. While resting in bed Abuela's been busy using a laptop and apparently doing some editing. A later close-up shows her earlobe with multiple piercings. Such a fine mix of reality with a traditional story.
Can you say more about the Three Blind Mice? And while you're at it, do you imply a subtext about the inattention of the cat to the presence of mice? Personally I mourn the loss of the Three Bears as you described and then decided against using them.
Thank you for briefly interpreting the geography and culture of northern New Mexico; for explaining the shrine in Chimayo, NM, and the tradition of Pilgrims who leave children's shoes there; and - wow! - to top it off, for explaining your understanding of the State of Grace.
