Thank you so much, Rukhsana, for participating in our discussion of books about Muslims and Muslim cultures, in particular your delightful *King for a Day.* Your lively responses, sharing insights into your creative processes and your concerns as an author for young people, have been most thoughtful and inspiring. The question you raised toward the end, about parents' and others' reactions to books about Muslims, is definitely worth going on with; maybe list-members could continue to think about that as we continue.

For the last week of this discussion, our guest author is Sara Farizan, whose debut novel *If You Could Be Mine *(Algonquin 2013) offers an extraordinarily layered and nuanced view of present-day urban Iranian society.

Welcome, Sara, and thank you very much for taking part in this discussion.
(It's nice to meet you again, after the USBBY conference last fall.)

The daughter of parents who immigrated from Iran in the 1970s, Sara grew up in the Boston area--which she still calls home although she currently lives in San Francisco. She earned her first degree, in film and media studies, from American University, then returned to Cambridge for an MFA degree from Lesley University. She says she knew in high school that writing would be her calling, but like many a writer she has held an assortment of other jobs--including Hollywood intern, which doesn't sound so bad.

Rather than responding to questions and comments as they come up, Sara prefers to prepare a comprehensive response toward the end of the period
(this coming weekend) Please keep your questions coming, and K.T. will compile them for Sara.
