This is slightly off the present thread, but I am curious to hear what people think of Jonathan Stroud's Bartimaeus Trilogy. The books (not nonfiction, but YA fantasy) draw heavily on the folklore/literature of the Arabian Nights.
Do you think they serve to increase diversity in children's literature?
I loved them, but I am curious to know whether other people think the books promote stereotypes?
Thanks!

The person behind the camera is currently on a world tour that will ultimately take him to ten countries. This tour began recently, starting in Iraq. He has been in two or three nations in the Middle East.
