Hello everybody,
I'm trying to track down the title of a tv show I watched when I was younger. It was a television special I saw somewhere in the late 80s or possibly the early 90s. The episode itself was a one-off (as far as I remember) but it could have been part of a larger series. In other words, it could have been something like the ABC Afterschool Special, where there is a series of shows made but the individual shows are not connected to each other.
In the episode, two young children, a brother and a sister, find an old document (I think they found it in their attic) which was a reciept showing an ancestor purchased a slave. When the two find out, they are shocked. Then they travel back in time (I have no memory of how this happened), meet their ancestor, then witness the transaction which turns out to be their ancestor purchased the slave in order to give him or her freedom.
I want to say it was a PBS episode, but it is also possible I made that up. It isn't an ABC Afterschool Special. I checked through the summaries and I also think the Afterschool Special was targeting a slightly older audience.
If anybody has any ideas, I would be quite thankful.
