Hello all- I got into this thread late sorry if I am repeating suggestions. Did someone already mention the Suzanne Fisher Stapels books? http://suzannefisherstaples.com/suzannes-works/ How, it has been a long time since I read them Not sure how authentically they present the cultures (by current standards) but I found them engaging and quite unlike any other books published for kids in the US. Compelling stories that take you into a very different geographical and cultural settings. Respectful too.
