We are very saddened to hear the news that Walter Dean Myers has died. He was one of the greats -- as an author and as a strong advocate for youth and diversity. He spoke at the CCBC many times over the years, so we also knew him as a good friend and kindred spirit.

Our hearts go out to his family and friends, and to all in the children's book community who will feel this loss immensely.
