After reading your response, Melissa, I'm amazed at your ability to take high-level science information and make it accessible and meaningful to kids. Too often, I see simplifications of information or issues in children's literature, but your work doesn't do this at all. You manage to convey really, very complex ideas about ecosystems, biodiversity and sustainability in a kid-friendly and encouraging manner. I expect that kids not only engaging with the book content but begin to ask larger questions about science -- a major and welcome accomplishment. As a non-scientist in a large scientist family, I truly value and appreciate your work.
