RE: Biographies of Women

I haven't posted to this list in ages, but I have to respond to Nancy Bo Flood's comment because I SO agree. I've been working on a biography of an 18th-century female mathematician of Milan who was famous in her day but is relatively unknown now. However, I've had difficulty capturing her personality because none of her personal writings have been found. While I continue to explore ways to make her come alive for young readers, I've also written a young adult historical novel based on her and her younger sister, who was a musician and composer. I'd love to find a way to introduce these amazing women to today's young readers, but I haven't been able to interest a publisher in the project yet.

>>Elsa, <i applaud your note and also echo the praise for Ellen Swallow
Richards biography. Bravo for the many unsong, unwritten heroes. <here in
<italy <i continue to think about the women during the renaissance and dark ages, hardly one written word that they existed. their voices and artistic expressions were not allowed. <i know of one historical biography, Dantes Daughter. Excellent. Nancy Bo Flood<<
