When I was in grammar school (a very long time ago) my main reading material was biographies. I devoured our very small collection and read them over and over again. My favorite one though was of Annie Oakley. I wanted to be her!! Now I look for interesting and vibrant women biographies so that my students will experience their own "favorites." It's definitely more of a challenge when searching for women biographies. I try to keep in my mind that regardless of political affiliation, stance on issues, etc. it's important to have a well rounded collection that appeals to as many students as possible.
