I found it helpful to hear from the teens themselves in Beyond Magenta. Like Merri, I appreciated the conversational feel to the book. It was enlightening, but also difficult to hear about some of the situations the teens have faced. I wondered how hard it was for Susan Kulin to just listen. Of course, she would need to ask questions to get at things, but often adults are inclined to offer advice or comment when listening.
