Hi Kara! Thanks so much for the kind words of support! I'm sorry if this was sent to you twice. I'm still trying to get the hang of things.

Actually, because I'm so new to this, I'm sort of playing it by ear when it comes to getting Morris Micklewhite out there. Groundwood Books has been absolutely fantastic and so incredibly supportive. They've really been working hard to make sure the book is introduced to as broad an audience as possible. I've been trying to do my part via social media, and I remain open to advice, suggestions, and ideas from just about anyone willing to offer it.

I haven't gotten any push back yet, but I do get strange comments here and there. One person asked me if I was a closet lesbian ("You can tell me - we're practically blood!") and another asked me why I insisted on having Morris wear a dress ("Couldn't the kids just make fun of him because he's wearing a silly hat?"). Like the parents who wanted me to curb their son's enthusiasm for dancing, I just had to demonstrate a little patience and use my inside voice. Straight women can write books about boys who wear dresses. Oh -- and straight boys can dance!

Almost completely unrelated, but one of my new characters has "Go to India" on her to-do list. What an incredible experience teaching in India must have been!
