Christine, thanks so much for sharing the story of how Morris came to be. It's a very touching story.

I find it so interesting you mention your own experiences growing up as a tomboy. One of the things we've observed during the first few weeks is how most of the books dealing with gender nonconformity deal with boys. Our collective brain was hard-pressed to come up with the female equivalent. other than books about nontraditional princesses.

And yet you mentioned, in your experience, you didn't think things had really changed for girls that much in terms of the pressure to look/be feminine. I find that so intriguing. I had hoped things had changed.

Did you ever consider writing the story from a girl's perspective? Or was Morris always a boy because of the more recent inspiration?
