Morris and Jacob

I join Megan in her appreciation of both MORRIS MICKLEWHITE AND THE TANGERINE DRESS and JACOB'S NEW DRESS. As she notes, the tones of the two book are markedly different, even though their subject is the same: if a boy wants to wear a dress, how does he fortify himself against the disapproval of his classmates (or society at large)?

How lovely that Morris and Jacob find their resolve in different ways.
Morris is dreamier, Jacob is more down-to-earth. Reading the two books assures us that boys may choose to wear dresses for different reasons and--I hope--opens our minds to the possibility that other boys and girls may choose to dress unconventionally for their own idiosyncratic reasons.
"Comfort in our clothing!" is a motto I can get behind.
