Hi. I agree that it's more difficult to find middle grade books with transgender characters or themes. The Boy in the Dress is the only one that I have read really. I did find mention of another book that is set to be published in November 2014 - Gracefully Grayson https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20873172-gracefully-grayson

Also, I think I mentioned Rickshaw Girl by Mitali Perkins before because it deals with fighting traditional gender roles. It is not really a transgender focus though since she is cross dressing to accomplish something not allowed for females rather than because of questioning gender identity. It does manage to question gender roles and why they exist or persist and I appreciate books that encourage or make room for that questioning.
