I love Bob Graham's picture books for his completely non-stereotypical families - dads in ponytails, kids in gender-neutral clothes (with fairy wings and dinosaur puppets at the same time), moms in pants (and skirts) with short hair and tattoos, multi-racial families, and more.

I was curious to see whether girls in pants in picture books are really so unusual, and I pulled a handful of books off my shelf to see. This is, of course, not a sample of anything much, but I found very few girls in dresses, and no frilly pink ones, among the illustrations of contemporary (and some historical) children.
