I felt that it was very important to use the word "transgender" in our book, especially after seeing how some of the other popular books (like "1,000 Dresses") seemed to hint at the transgender experience but not expressly name it as such.

Jazz is such an amazing kid-- it's been a privilege to get to know her. :)
