Growth and New Trends in Children's Nonfiction
My evidence from the recent Bologna and London book fairs and from articles in School Library Journal and Publishers Weekly—such as yesterday's report on an ABPA Panel—highlights growth and three new trends in children's nonfiction publishing: Pre-K, Teen, and Gamification. These are in both print and digital forms.

These developments—and the opportunities they provide for writers, illustrators, designers, publishers, book packagers, librarians, educators, and digital developers—will be featured at the upcoming 21st Century Children's Nonfiction Conference, June 20-22, at SUNY New Paltz, NY.
Abrams, Highlights for Children, National Geographic (featured in the PW article), Pearson, Time for Kids, Capstone, and Zest are some of the publishers highlighting these new trends at the conference, and Green Door Labs and other apps developers will be focusing on gamification at the event. Registration for the conference is now open.
