A question from Miriam for Joyce:

Here's what I'd like to know: I'm a huge admirer of Ms. Sidman's themed poetry collections, particularly UBIQUITOUS and DARK EMPEROR OF THE NIGHT. I'm wondering something about her writing process. Does she purposely write poems on certain themes or does she amass a quantity of poems and then think, "Oh! I could make a book out of these." In other words, which comes first--the poetry or the concept of the collection?
