ALA Poetry Blast

Perfect timing for Poetry Month: Barbara Genco and I are delighted to announce that we will be co-hosting the ALA Poetry Blast at ALA Annual on Sunday, June 29 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. on the Pop Top stage in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The participating poets will be: Margarita Engle, The Lightning Dreamer and Silver People: Voices from the Panama Canal (both HMH); Joan Bransfield Graham, The Poem That Will Not End (Two Lions/Amazon); Nikki Grimes, Words with Wings (Wordsong/Boyds Mills); K.A. Holt, Rhymer Schemer (Chronicle); Emily Jiang, Summoning the Phoenix (Shen's Books/Lee & Low); Alan Katz, Oops and Poems I Wrote When No One Was Looking (both Margaret K. McElderry/S&S); Marilyn Nelson, How I Discovered Poetry (Dial/Penguin); Kenn Nesbitt, My Hippo Has the Hiccups (Sourcebooks Jabberwocky) and Revenge of the Lunch Ladies(Meadowbrook); Marilyn Singer, The Superheroes Employment Agency (Clarion) and Rutherford B., Who Was He? (Disney-Hyperion); Jacqueline Woodson, Brown Girl Dreaming (Nancy Paulsen Books/Penguin).
