Crystal,
Thanks. That's interesting. Humor, riddles, and puns are major hooks for getting boy scouts into a reading session but I had assumed that was just a boy thing. Interesting to see the profile below which is broadly consistent.

Just for kicks I looked up circulation stats for our poetry section. The poetry book most often checked out is....
Where the Sidewalk Ends - Siverstein
Here are some of the others that circulate the most:
Dirt on My Shirt - Jeff Foxworthy
Kids Pick the Funniest Poems - Bruce Lansky
Once I Ate a Pie - Patricia MacLachlan
Pocket Poems - Bobbi Katz
New Kid on the Block - Prelutsky
My Dog May Be a Genius - Prelutsky
A Pizza the Size of the Sun - Prelutsky
Everything on It - Silverstein
Falling Up - Silverstein
Runny Babbit - Silverstein
A Light in the Attic - Silverstein
Hello Kitty Everywhere: Photographs and Haiku
Humor is clearly the winner when it comes to poetry in our elementary school.
