I am not sure where these rank in terms of popularity but I wanted to share these stories told in verse.
Carver: A Life In Poems by Marilyn Nelson Bronzeville Boys and Girls by Gwendolyn Brooks Song of the Water Boatman & Other Pond Poems by Joyce Sidman Dream Keepers & other Poems by Langston Hughes Gone Fishing: A Novel by Tamera Will Wissinger (Okay, this is a little gratuitous, she's a former classmate.)
Sincerely,
Loretta Caravette

Just for kicks I looked up circulation stats for our poetry section. The poetry book most often checked out is....
Where the Sidewalk Ends - Siverstein
Here are some of the others that circulate the most: Dirt on My Shirt - Jeff Foxworthy Kids Pick the Funniest Poems - Bruce Lansky Once I Ate a Pie - Patricia MacLachlan Pocket Poems - Bobbi Katz New Kid on the Block - Prelutsky My Dog May Be a Genius - Prelutsky A Pizza the Size of the Sun - Prelutsky Everything on It - Silverstein Falling Up - Silverstein Runny Babbit - Silverstein A Light in the Attic - Silverstein Hello Kitty Everywhere: Photographs and Haiku
Humor is clearly the winner when it comes to poetry in our elementary school.
