KT,
It was more about readers learning that there are more ways to experience sexual pleasure besides just intercourse. I wanted to show female readers that they deserve to enjoy sexual experiences as much as males do, and I wanted male readers to recognize that there is pleasure in giving, which I think is something not stressed in teen life as much as it is in adulthood.

I wondered the same thing, Helen. The first two physical encounters she has with Leo, she actually says "I don't want to have sex" and Leo says
"Okay, we don't have to," and presses on. The first time he uses his fingers to bring her to orgasm, and the second time, his tongue. I have read that a lot of teens don't consider this to be sex, so that's how I read it. But as an adult reading it, it did give me pause.
