I agree with Barbara's thoughts below. I've avoided the issue in my own writing by writing middle grade novels, but in my considerable experience with teen readers, they are far more curious about love than they are about sex. The latter is all over pop culture. I think a novel is uniquely suited to unpacking love in all its glorious variety, far more so than a pop tune or a viral video.
