I am very interested in teen response to *Grasshopper Jungle* (as that is the only of Smith's I've read). I loved, loved, loved the book, but I am very curious about the teen readership. One of my male middle school colleagues who loves horror ended up enjoying it, but said he found the repeated references to being horny at the beginning tedious and only started to like it when that diminished and other things started to happen
(of the sci-fi sort). So we were trying to figure out just who would like it. We speculated perhaps teens who like sci-fi and Vonnegut (or Tim Robbins) or other sort of experimental writing? He's given it to a 9th grader who loves books like the Cherub series and we will see what he thinks. I'd love to hear from others about teen response to the book.
