Happens all the time, even at conventions….Pre-mergers/acquisitions of the eighties…many publishing folk were outspoken…even sassy…now, one's boss has a boss who has a boss, etc…people are more careful…especially in public….outspoken/sassy continues but in the privacy of one's own circle, and in some cases, department with folk one trusts implicitly. A more "corporate" environment…which was not the climate when I started out….In those days, publishing companies were called…houses... then it changed to publishing company, now, in some circles, it is the corporation.
