*Submissions Now Open for 2014 PEN Literary Awards*
*$10,000 Available for Children's and Young Adult Book Authors *
The PEN Literary Awards are the most comprehensive in the United States. Each year, with the help of its partners and supporters, PEN confers more than $150,000 to writers in the fields of fiction, science writing, essays, sports writing, biography, children's literature, translation, drama, or poetry. Two awards are given for children's literature: the $5,000 PEN/Steven Kroll Award for Picture Book Writing and the $5,000 PEN/Phyllis Reynold Naylor Working Writers Fellowship.
Picture book submissions are now being accepted for the PEN/Steven Kroll Award for Picture Book Writing. Books must have been published in the U.S. in 2013, and may be submitted by publishers, literary agents, writers or members of the literary community at large. Self-published books are not eligible. Complete submission requirements at http://www.pen.org/content/pensteven-kroll-award-picture-book-writing-5000.
*Books must be received by December 16.*
Applications are now being accepted for the PEN/Phyllis Reynold Naylor Working Writers Fellowship. The Fellowship was developed to help published authors whose work is of high literary caliber but who have not yet attracted a broad readership, and is designed to assist a writer at a crucial moment in his or her career to complete a book-length work-in-progress. Writers must be nominated by an editor or fellow writer. Complete eligibility and submission requirements at http://www.pen.org/content/penphyllis-naylor-working-writer-fellowship-5000.
