The decisions that teachers make about the types of texts offered in the classroom directly impact student achievement.
Join us for the one-day Text Matters
<http://eop.education.wisc.edu/eop/professional-learning/conferences-institutes/literacy-conference---text-matters>conference where we will explore literacy development and literacy-based learning by examining how students interact with various texts. Other topics include how teachers can find texts that are accessible, meaningful, and that will encourage students to imagine themselves and the world in new and different ways.
Megan McDonald (author of Judy Moody) and Coe Booth (author of Tyrell) will offer their perspectives as writers of popular books for primary and secondary students, respectively. Each registrant will be sent two books to read in advance so they can put what they learn into action in a discussion with their colleagues.
Register before October 11 for the early bird fee of just $50. Registration includes the one-day conference, lunch, conference materials, and two books.
