Hello all, I see "A Fine, Fine School" by Sharon Creech, illustrated by Harry Bliss on the CCBC's School Stories list. I love sharing this book aloud with school children, and I own my own copy for those occasions when I need to read to a school group on short notice! It's alwaysa hit. There's something about the repetition in the text that grabsthe audience's attention. I find that the story builds empathy in children for all the books' characters: the school girl who has to balance growing responsibility at home AND school, the principal who wants his school to be the best it can be, and the younger sibling who wantsthe attention of his big sister. The pictures have a lot of fun detail to look for, and yet they remain easy to see and take in from a distance. This is a fine choice for a back to school read aloud! Regards,Alison В В В В
