Among my favorites for subtle gender-bending (or stretching) are Mini Grey's Traction Man books. In Traction Man Is Here!, the boy's sister is reading about woodworking (and is underwhelmed by a gift of pink socks); in Traction Man Meets Turbo Dog, the boy's father is the one caring for the house and worrying about dirt (and the sister is building things out in the shed).
