I am always reminded of Anne in Anne of Green Gables. She perfectly embodies the longing for home. For safety and security. The sense of place in middle grade novels written by Joanna Hurwitz and Beverly Cleary is palpable as readers we are running down the street of both neighborhoods. As a child I reveled in the sense of time and place of All of a Kind Family.
