Back on the nonfiction side of things, I would highly recommend Barbara Kerley's The World is Waiting for You (National Geographic) and other National Geographic titles, such as the Ultimate Kids' U.S. Road Trip Atlas and the Ultimate Kids' World Atlas. Poring over atlases and maps is something certain kids enjoy that Google Maps and other apps just don't quite match. Another good series for young explorers are the Lonely Planet Not-for-Parents titles.

Finally, Flight 1-2-3 by Maria van Lieshout is a great counting book introduction to the airport.
